Magnetic coupling constants from a hybrid density functional with 35% Hartree-Fock exchange

چکیده
The magnetic coupling constants of KCuF3, Sr2CuO2Cl2, La2CuO4, La2NiO4, K2NiF4, KNiF3, NiF2, KMnF3, and MnF2 are calculated with a hybrid density functional, in which 35% of the nonlocal Hartree-Fock exchange is mixed in the general gradient approximation to the density functional theory. The theoretical magnetic coupling constants for these materials with different structures, spins, and magnetic orderings are in good agreement with experiment. Our results improve significantly over the so-called B3LYP hybrid density functional, which usually overestimates the magnetic coupling constants by about 50%. However, the energy gaps from the B3LYP functional are in better agreement with experiment than the hybrid functional with 35% Hartree-Fock exchange, which means that within the current scheme of hybrid density functionals different functionals are needed to better predict different properties of materials.

متن کاملSystematic investigation on the geometric dependence of the calculated nuclear magnetic shielding constants
We perform a systematic examination on the dependence of the calculated nuclear magnetic shielding constants on the chosen geometry for a selective set of density functional methods of B3LYP, PBE0, and OPBE. We find that the OPBE exchange-correlation functional performs remarkably well when either the optimized geometries or the experimental geometries are used. The popular B3LYP and PBE0 funct...
متن کاملOn the Isovector Channels in Relativistic Point Coupling Models within the Hartree and Hartree-Fock Approximations
We investigate the consequences of Fierz transformations acting upon the contact interactions for nucleon fields occurring in relativistic point coupling models in Hartree approximation, which yield the same models but in Hartree-Fock approximation instead. Identical nuclear ground state observables are calculated in the two approximations, but the magnitudes of the coupling constants are diffe...

We report a plane wave-projector augmented wave implementation of the recently proposed exchange-only range separated hybrid (RSHX) density functional [Gerber and Angyan, Chem. Phys. Lett. 415, 100 (2005)] and characterize its performance in the local density approximation (RSHXLDA) for a set of archetypical solid state systems, as well as for some transition metal oxides. Lattice parameters, b...
متن کاملA new hybrid functional including a meta-GGA approach
In this Letter we propose a new hybrid exchange–correlation functional, in which a recently developed exchange (mPBE) and a meta-GGA correlation (KCIS) are integrated in a hybrid Hartree–Fock/Density Functional Theory scheme. In such approach only one, or two in the G2-optimized version, parameters are adjusted on experimental data, all the others being derived from purely theoretical considera...
